Create dummy files from an Excel spreadsheet

Hello Guys,

I really need some advice here.

Actually, I want to create a folder template from an Excel file. How?

I have an Excel file, with some columns ( this is sent by the Business and then we have to create the folder structure, with all Document names. Usually they do it manually, creating one document by one.)

So I would like to implement something which could create for example 100 dummy files in a shot.

The excel file has all the 100 document names, so let's suppose:

1st row - Document 01.doc

2nd row - Document 02.doc

3nd row - Document 03.doc

Something like this.

I have the Visual C# with LAPI connect. Any suggestions?

Please contact your sales rep to discuss this. There is a tool developed by Global Services (I’m the guy who wrote it), called InformationModel Builder that will do exactly what you want (plus more!). It was developed in java using LAPI

This can also be done via ObjectImporter if your org has it installed and configure.All you have to do is create a VBA routine that converts your logic into OI load files.Also what exactly do you need help with is it the excel reading part or lapi part that you have qns.In the communities website I have created a lapi routine that parses a csv file to create users.There is plenty of lapi code in that web site and this site and you should find similar examples to read excel data in the web.

Also since 9.7.1 LAPI is getting outdated by the use of the new web svcs paradigm so incase you want to look at that for long term .The true and trusted lapi will work for some more years.

Here is another website that has a lot of old lapi code most of it was written by me as well.

while I was learning it so no warranties if you don't like it or it doesnot work
