Is LAPI right for me?

Is LAPI via VB 6.0 the correct/viable foundation for this project, as opposed to LL Builder, which seems more suited to server extensibility.

We need to build a simple batch document loader in order to migrate 450,000 documents from FileNet to LiveLink. The documents will be staged on disk with an associated attribute file. The attribute text file will be read in order to set the document properties, then uploaded to the LL repository.

We are running LL Content Server 9.7.1

Send me a description of the requirements. It might be more useful to parse the attribute file and use Object Importer to import the documents. On the other hand there is a tool which OT developed that can parse the attribute file and import directly into Livelink (using lapi) that might be available.

This reminds me about the Document Pipeline from the document archiving scenario. It uses an attribute file and a content file (or more files) to process a document. (Usually the last step in the pipeline is sending the document to the server.) I believe that should be a Doctool archiving to LL971 available. At least this scenario is supported by Imaging Clients - I'm just not sure if by a Doctool ordirectly by EnterpriseScan.

as Kevin said OI might be the fastest but it may require you to load and configure OI modules, The EXR3 pipeline could be used possibly to do the livelink pipelines as well,and also if one wanted to pride onself in the aatest perhaps one could embrace the websvcs paradigm that les97.7.1 offers as well.We use escan and the les pipeline tool to load into livelink and a developer showed me how he uses the exr3 pipeline to create the load files for SAP objects.I am sure one could use that appraoch without escan initiating the load files as well.
