Hello,
Thanks for answer, so, the disk drive USB external contains 500.000 thousand documents approximately and we have our livelink 971 server with webdav 10.
I need is a suggestion on how I can do this work of the way safely and efficiently.
Regars,
If you have Livelink Explorer Pro or Drag and drop folders, you should be able to pull the whole structure and content into an existing Livelink folder. You will need to make sure any limits set by the admin allow both that number of items and that total size on disk to be added in one session.
You can also expect the instance to run slower until all the indexing is caught up if you are running the index server on the same box. Also, don’t expect every item to respond to search right away as the indexing can take some time.
Good morning,
Where I can see the configuraration of the limit set by the administrator?.
Regards.
In the Admin pages, under Explorer Administation, then go to Configure General Settings link. About halfway down is a section called Throttle Settings. You can also append this to your base URL ?func=webexpAdmin.Admin to access the page directly. You will need the server admin password.

Good morning, I would advise against dragging and dropping 500K documents into Content Server. This will drag the system to a halt. The WebServer, Database, Content Server, Indexing will be overworked and fall over.WebDAV and Explorer are not used for bulk uploads. They should be used for smaller operations and editing of documents.Alternatives include: Object Importer, LAPI application, Smaller Drag and Drop operations...I would also be careful about your file structure. If you have 500K documents in one folder, you will have significant performance issues every time someone goes to this folder.Regards, ________________________________________Michael CussonPrincipal Product SpecialistContent Server Escalations TeamOpen Text Customer Support
All very good advice.

Topic:
Open Text sells File System Archiving (FSA). If is supposed to move files from the filesystem to the archive (the server) and leave just links on the original places or copy or move the files completely (your case). I know it may look like pulling a cannon to shoot a sparrow ;-) but if you already have the product the usage would be easier than writing your own tool or learning something that you haven't used yet.

My recommendation woule be to use OpenText Document Pipeline (DP) for importing your documents. DP was built for asynchroneous processing of potentially huge amounts of content. It comes with an interface for fetching content from a file system and it supports various target systems, including Content Server.
