CMIS Connector with ELS 10.2.1 - HELP!

Hi All

I installed Tomcat 6

I installed ELS 10.2.1 on Windows 2008 R2 system running Content Server with CMIS Connector option

From Tomcat access URL like: http://localhost:9180/manager/html, I can see /ot-cmis along with all other /ot services

Among all these only ot-cmis is not started - trying to start gives me:

"FAIL - Application at context path /ot-cmis could not be started"

In the same system, I can run /csadmin with proper RCS authentication and it gets me to some UI with Triggers

I re-ran the "elib_cmis_service_10.2.1.msi" without any success

My plan is:

Get this to work and see ?wsdl navigation and other services

Use a sample application like CMIS Explorer http://code.google.com/p/cmis-explorer/downloads/detail?name=cmis-explorer-1.0.air&can=2&q= and test - I need to show this all working tomorrow

Any help is greatly appreciated

Please provide log files, like rcs.log in the Tomcat logs directory. The backup logs might be of help too.

This means CMIS is not available because Enterprise Library is not available. Probably the car and war files weren’t correctly deployed during first startup of Tomcat. Could you please stop Tomcat, move ot-elib.car and ot-elib.war files from the Workspace/modules/install directory to a temporary directory somewhere outside the workspace or Tomcat directory. Then start Tomcat and wait until rcs.log states:

I had support help me with this - however, they made me delete all Tomcat instances and applications already deployed (Brava, and OTE) - they asked me to use all defaults during Tomcat and ELS installation saying that it is very 'picky' and 'tricky'

When I installed just RCS from Master Setup the log file is OK (Core Services Kernel Started and STARTING RUNLEVEL 9 : MAX are there)

When I start installing CMIS and dependent services like Content Services, then I get issues and Kernel Services are throwing errors with WebDAV or some other thing

Questions:

<![if !supportLists]>1. <![endif]>I am installing ELS 10.2.1 - Do I have to install Update 3 on CS? Is it dependent?

<![if !supportLists]>2. <![endif]>My Admin user password is not 'livelink' - is that an issue?

<![if !supportLists]>3. <![endif]>I am not using OTDS but will go with Legacy authentication (CAP) - in this case, the user would 'otadmin' with a password - is this user created in CS? I see otadmin@otds.admin created if I use OTDS - if 'otadmin' using CAP is not created, how does connection establish - I assume it will be using Admin account with default password 'livelink' and if the system does not use that password, we will have issues?

<![if !supportLists]>4. <![endif]>Are there any specific patches, modules that are needed for RCS, ELS to work before CMIS can be attempted?

I have few updates on this issue - STILL UNRESOLVED!!

I cleaned up the machine

Installed Tomcat 6 with JRE 6

Ran RCS only

It installed and started correctly - KERNEL started correctly and worked

I then started installing CMIS dependency services one at a time

Installed Content Web Services - it worked correctly - see atttached Log file "rcs_afterContentWebSvcs1003.log"

Installed Metadata Services - it gave error complaining that WebDAV is required - see attached log file "rcs_afterMetadataSvcs1021_error_needsWebDAV.log"

Installed WebDAV services

It started throwing errors - see log file "rcs_after_webDAV.log"

It should not be this difficult

Could you please provide the new log files, especially rcs.log file?

Do you log what you are doing (e.g. with screenshots)?

There is a documentation to setup an All-in-one system (https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/piroot/el/v100201/el-igd/en/html/partallinone.htm) . It explains in very detail, what has to be done to setup the system. With its many screenshots it’s very easy to follow.

Regarding CS update level: please ensure you install the recent Content Server update, which currently is Update 3, which is already included on the EL 10.2.1 Update 1 ISO image.

The following patches are mandatory for ELS:

ADS-1021-001, ASR-1021-001

For CMIS the patch CMI-1021-001 is recommended.

A password other than livelink is supported.

Could you please provide the new log files, especially rcs.log file?

Do you log what you are doing (e.g. with screenshots)?

There is a documentation to setup an All-in-one system (https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/piroot/el/v100201/el! -igd/en/html/partallinone.htm) . It explains in very detail, what has to be done to setup the system. With its many screenshots it’s very easy to follow.

Regarding CS update level: please ensure you install the recent Content Server update, which currently is Update 3, which is already included on the EL 10.2.1 Update 1 ISO image.

The following patches are mandatory for ELS:

ADS-1021-001, ASR-1021-001

For CMIS the patch CMI-1021-001 is recommended.

A password other than livelink is supported.

When I installed just RCS from Master Setup the log file is OK (Core Services Kernel Started and STARTING RUNLEVEL 9 : MAX are there)

When I start installing CMIS and dependent services like Content Services, then I get issues and Kernel Services are throwing errors with WebDAV or some other thing

Questions:

1.&nb! sp; I am! installing ELS 10.2.1 - Do I have to install Update 3 on CS? ! Is it dependent?

2. My Admin user password is not 'livelink' - is that an issue?

3. I am not using OTDS but will go with Legac! y authent! ication (CAP) -! in this case, the user would 'otadmin' with a password - is this user created in CS? I see otadmin@otds.admin created if I use OTDS - if 'otadmin' using CAP is not created, how does connection establish - I assume it will be using Admin account with default password 'livelink' and if the system does not use that password, we will have issues?

4. Are there any specific patches, modules that are needed for RCS, ELS to work before CMIS can be attempted?

5. Finally, I am thinking of using CMIS-Explorer sample application - are there others that are better suited for testing once I get RCS & ELS to work correctly?

Thanks in advance for all the help & suggestions - I need to get this working before end of today

Hi All

I installed Tomcat 6

I installed ELS 10.2.1 on Windows 2008 R2 system running Content Server with CMIS Connector option

>From Tomcat access URL like: http://localhost:9180/manager/! html, I can see /ot-cmis along with all other /ot services

Among all these only ! ot-cmis is not started - trying to start gives me:

"FAIL - Application at context path /ot-cmis could not be started"

which is a warning and means, you need WebDAV if you want to use ILM, which I guess you don’t.

which makes me believe you haven’t installed Archive Services yet. (contentservice is the technical name of an Archive Server component which was named contentservice long before Livelink was renamed to Content Server).

So I supposed you haven’t installed Archive Server and Archive Services at all. Using the Mastersetup please make sure to select the three scenarios Archive Server, Content Server and Enterprise Library Services. Again, the All-in-one guide explains this including screenshots.

I have few updates on this issue - STILL UNRESOLVED!!

I cleaned up the machine

Installed Tomcat 6 with JRE 6

Ran RCS only

It installed and started correctly - KERNEL started correctly and worked

I then started installing CMIS dependency services one at a time

Installed Content Web Services - it worked correctly - see atttached Log file "rcs_afterContentWebSvcs1003.log"

Installed Metadata Services - it gave error complaining that WebDAV is required - see attached log file "rcs_afterMetadataSvcs1021_error_needsWebDAV.log"

Installed WebDAV services

It started throwing errors - see log file "rcs_after_webDAV.log"

It should not be this difficult

Otherwise, I will have to someone form GS involved (I am only pre-sales and we never include AS in pre-sales installs) and get more time from prospect

Meanwhile, I tried to install Update 3 and since it created a new instance I had to uninstall and it removed my original custom CS instance - I need a break from these issues for 3-4 hours and start afresh

Right, ELS install without Archive Server is possible.

I’m sorry I didn’t see

So I think ELS is supposed to be correctly installed.

The exception you’re receiving after WebDAV install is due to insufficient configuration. After uninstall of WebDAV it should disappear.

When using CAP please configure the LesAuthDriver in the RCS configuration using MMC Admin client. To connect use the username and password, which you specified in the RCS setup.

As I don’t see any messages with CMIS I think this isn’t installed yet.
