Support for Email nodes.

Hello all,

I'm trying to verify if it is possible to import email messages via the document management service. I read a couple of older posts that mention that the email nodes are not supported but it also appears that there is an alternative method to importing them but no details are given.

if anyone has any details on how this was done and can share I'd greatly appreciate it.

We are currently on Conent Server 9.7.1.

Hi Leo,

There is indeed not a specific Livelink Node type available which acts as a storage container for emails. However, you can use a normal Text Document as a storage container. This is how we've implemented this as well. We read the email message and we create a Folder for it and we store the mail header and message body in 2 separate Text Documents. And we extract the attachments and upload then as separate files into the Folder.

You can use the XMLImport functionality to create an object of the E-mail type. The E-mail supporting ospace has also LAPI calls to create an E-mail object but I think that they are not (publicly) documented.

Creation of Email objects is possible with the Enterprise Library Web Services. However, not for Content Server 9.7.1.
