Here an issues we have and I would like to have opinions on this. Beginning at the early days of our deployement of Livelink, we had to slit our e-mail to have the attachments index so today we are still splitting e-mail which create an e-mail compound. At that time RM was not deploy so we did not know that splitting e-mail would cause us a big issue. By default, items in e-mail compound don't inherit RM classification. At that time we did not know this so we actually have a huge amount of compound e-mail items with no RM class. We have recently changed the setting but we have to do something with the 300k of legacy e-mail compound. We are examining options and one of them would involve web services and this is were I need advice.
We were thinking about manipulating the email coupound with web services. We would scan all e-mail compound, take note of the RM class then scan all sub-itms and apply the same RM class. Any one foreseen major issue? Do we have access to RM classe thru web services? COuld we set a RM class to item inside a email coumpond?
another option: locate the item in the email-compound, move out of the compound then apply the RM class of the email-compound
