What else with otVariables?

Hi folks,

We need a document that describes what otVariables are capable of and what can it be done with them. Let me decribe our problem. We want to show the folder structure with a dept of 2 on top center of appearance. We know how appearance works but we don't know how to get the childeren of a node item.

Is there a good article or a document about them except help?

Although you mention “except help” below, the help files appear to provide you with information on this.

In particular, you are probably interested in the OTmacro_listItems class.

 

Here is a snippet from the help file:

Class: OTmacro_listItems

Purpose: Creates a list of items that are children of the specified node (defaults to the current node).

Options

<![if !supportLists]>·         <![endif]>max: an integer indicating the maximum number of items to include in the list. The maximum default number of items is 24.

<![if !supportLists]>·         <![endif]>type: an integer indicating the only item type to show. Default: Show All

<![if !supportLists]>·         <![endif]>parentID: an integer indicating the ID of the parent container from which to get children. Default: current node.

<![if !supportLists]>·         <![endif]>functionMenus: a boolean that indicates if function menus should be made available with each item in the list. Default: True

<![if !supportLists]>·         <![endif]>icons: a boolean that indicates if icons indicating the item's type should be included in the list. Default: True

<![if !supportLists]>·         <![endif]>columns: an integer between 1 and 4 that indicates the number of columns in which to display the results. Default: 3 columns

This should allow you to generate a list of child items from within the Appearance.
