Metadata with Set as one of the attributes

Hi,

We have created a category which has couple of "Set" type attributes. I am having trouble setting the metadata for "Set". If anybody is using "Set" attributes, can you please provide a Java/c# sample code for setting the attribute "Set" in metadata.

I don't have readymade code but the structure and examples are hidden in this forum if you have code to parse and update categories in a node a little experimenting can get you going

Kyle Swidrowich and Hugh Ferguson has put snippets

If this helps I will tell you how to proceed

Assume the simplest example a integer attribute and text when you retrieve the attribute groups array you will get DataValue[0] as Intger and the other one as String Not in front of a computer so excuse the class problems but just go with the idea

So if you want to manipulate you retrieve the key which positions you in the structure and voila

Say you have a set then the Set will be given to you as TableValue and each attribute integer or text or date will come to you as a RowValue . When you isolate the RowValue you will see the DataValue you want to change.

This follows closely the OScript parsing so I know you mess with it shouldn't be hard

In my blog I have regular categories parsing and setting in c# Chris Webster has a very clear Java sample also I the forum

I have always stayed away from sets because of the reporting problems it gives you especially with MVA attached

Hi Kampe!

How are you?

Well, In the CS almost all is supported with objects for you can do it the same procedure with code (Java, C#..).

First, get your AttributeGroup values of the Metadata object (getAttributeGroups() method).

Next, you should get which is category you need.

Next, you should to iterate each one for his values (StringValue, IntegerValue, DateValue...etc) ...

In this case a "Set object" is supported with a TableValue object (com.opentext.livelink.service.core.TableValue). Only for you can do it, is necesary that you make a loop over getValues() (RowValue's objects) and to iterate each one because this contain DataValue objects!

Next, you should modify every value that you need it.

Next, you should use the setMetadata method (It's a method of the Node class) and set the new metadata object with his changes.

In the final step, you should update your node object and the work shall be done!
