Get server IP address

Hi,

I need to generate a log which name contains the server IP address ( knowing that we have several CS instances running on the same server on # IP addresses )

I didn't find a way to get it from OScript. Any idea ? Or should I set a specific entry in opentext.ini...not very elegant.

Hi Pierre,

JavaObject InetAddress = JavaObject.InvokeStaticMethod ("java.net.InetAddress", "getLocalHost", {})
echo (InetAddress.InvokeMethod ("getHostAddress", {}))

Note, of course, that a machine can have multiple IP addresses, etc. but this should get you started.

Hi Chris,

Good idea, thanks. However it looks like the method returns the loopback address 127.0.0.1. I've been googling and also looks like several people struggled around this.

Even if I find the method to get all IP addresses of the host, I don't see how I could get the IP for which the http server has been set to serve the CS process.

I finaly opted for the opentext.ini entry :=)

If your opentext.ini has a meaningful value for the standard configuration item "Server" in the "general" section you could use OScript's Socket. GetAddrByNameAnother way to get the WebServer's IP (probably more reliable) you could do something weird: Create a new OScript Socket and connect to your WebServer serving CS (means: perform a CS Web-request manually) and then inspect its pPeerAddress feature. (Of course to do so you need the WebServer's hostname.)
