Creating Custom Services

Hi everyone, I'm following the tutorial to create and deploy a service and have a couple of questions. Let's see if someone made his way around these:

C:\OPENTEXT\webservices\sdk\empresa\build.xml:35: The DevEnvDir environment variable is undefined; it must be defined by running %VS80COMNTOOLS%\vsvars32.bat.

This first messege comes out when trying to run the ant script, I've looked for the vsvars32.bat but couldn't find it anywhere. I just deleted compile.net and deploy.net from the build.xml. But just in case we have to use it somewhere else it would be great to know how to fix it.

It seems like there is a (some) jar(s) missing because I get a lot of errors while ant is compiling the script. These are not located in the ../lib folder relative to the ant script. Has anyone managed to compile their Service.

VS80COMNTOOLS%\vsvars32.bat "must be defined by running %VS80COMNTOOLS%\vsvars32.bat" ...is self explanatory, but you need to have Visual Studio to have access to it.

For the ant script errors, you'll need to review the ant script and it's parameters. An "ant script specific" forum would probably be the best place for assistance on tweaking the ant scripts to suit your needs.

I find keeping all files and structure exactly as it is installed within the <othome>/webservices/sdk/ directory and then mimicing the treeview folder structures with your own, works to eliminate the need to tweak the antscript.

Hi Carlos,

The Content Server SDK DOES NOT come with the ELS or RCS libraries necessary to compile “EmpresaService_CS.java”. these _CS files should be removed if you’re not intending to make your Custom web service compatible with Runtime & Core Services.

@ Deepak - I’m pretty sure you’re seeing the same errors.

Sorry. I didn’t realize they were ALL referencing the _CS.java files.

Hi Deepak,

Always happy to help.J

The RCS Jars are not separately available on KC (that I know of); they can be found in an RCS installation inside the Tomcat/lib/csjars directory. If you’re going to test a RCS based CWS, you’ll need an RCS installation anyway.

You will be able to find the appropriate version of RCS here:

https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/open/16476224

If you want to “cheat” you can download the Unix install and just unzip the files to get the Jar files.

Hello Bill,

Thanks for the helpful tips. I am able to manage to get hcs.jar at specified location.

Now all the compilation errors regarding missing libraries for following packages gone away.

com.opentext.ecm.services.*

But still some dependancies are still their for following package

com.opentext.livelink.service.core.coreservices.*

Could you please help me to find the respective libraries or name of .jar file so that remaining errors will be disappeared.

Sorry to disturb you again. But I found another post which gave information about core services libraries

It says

The jar file that contains com.opentext.livelink.service.core.coreservices.CoreServicesServiceContext.class is service-coreservices-9.7.1.jar. This is included in the les-services.car file which would be found in your OTHOME/webservices/java/core-services directory.

Hope that helps.

But I have CS 10 instance so I found the library (another version) at same location.

Now the Java Custom webservice Project is Green
