UTF-8 and livelink web services

We have written an application in .net 4.0 that allow to create folder in the personnal workspace of a users. We recently migrated our livelink 9.7.1 database to UTF-8 and since then when the user use accent in the folder name, in the .net Apps, the accent shows rigth but in livelink it does not work. We would like to know if the livelink web service s are UTF-8 compliant? Is it only a matter of configuration in the web.config.

Hi Guy,

You need to specify a UTF-8 encoding in the web.config file in order for the services to use/interpret UTF-8 encoded strings correctly.

Change your “livelink.encoding” value to “UTF8” in the file and see if that helps.

I assume the setting has to be on both web.config? client and livelink server?

The setting is a web.config setting, not an app.config setting.
It instructs the shipping web services as to how they should be communicating with Content Server.
