Getting attribute data in CS10.

Hello,

I have a custom image viewer that I developed for viewing TIFF files. Thank's to help I received on this forum I was able to develop a module to integrate the viewer into the function menu of TIFF (as well as JPG and GIF) files.

Many of my images have a category associated with them that has several attributes. I would like to pass this attribute information to my viewer to display in an HTML table there.

Most of what I have found on the KC regarding querying this attribute information is for Livelink 9.x and does not work with CS 10. Could someone point me in the right direction of how I modify my module to pass the image's attribute information into my viewer?

The attribute data structure has not changed that much between a 9 system and a CS10 system.For new comers it can be a little daunting as that is a complicated data structure.But here's what one does to get the jist of it in psuedo code so you don't get too scared approaching the stuff.Then I will point you to a link which will show in oscript how you do it.

Locate Node by DataID

Ask for the Node's Categories

Parse each category individually and get its leaves(ATTRIBUTES)

Display.Note this is the same way you change its values as well.

In CS10 metadata can appear in more than one language.I do not have access to such a system.If your system is in English then the old code should work just as well.I just did some oscript work on a CS10 system and the node categories code worked for me without any issue.

Start with a small category with one or 2 attributes and apply it your node and obtain its info.

The code may look a little tricky but once you understand the procedure it is pretty easy to acheive

I think I am finally following the logic. I do have a somewhat embarrasing follow-up question. Where in my module does this oscript go?

Ultimately I want to be able to pass all of the attribute data to my HTML file.

All of this is new to me; I have not had a lot of experience with it.

You probably want your functions available from anywhere in your other features, therefore, any code you should create a Utils child object under Imageviewer Root. Call it Utils. Right click on that Utils object and at the end of the drop-down list, you will see 'Add to Application Globals'. Now any function you add to Utils will be accessible anywhere by using $ImageViewer.Utils.MyFunction().

I find it's a good idea to put the heavy lifting as much as possible into your own package, and then call functions from your orphaned or overridden objects. It makes it simple to set breakpoints too.
