List rights

Am wondering what the best way is to list all the objects that the user has access to, I have startet with listGroups but how i can define a RecArray type in JAVA ? a simple working code will be perfect.

your help and replies is highley apriciated

You do not need a "RecArray": ----8<-------8<-------8<-------8<---ListGroupspublic int ListGroups ( int groupType, LLValue groupInfo ) Output ParametersgroupInfo a value object of type Record, initialized using the ValueAlloc function. See User, Group, and Domain Record Attributes.RemarksAny LLVALUE initialized using ValueAlloc can be passed as the groupInfo output parameter. The function assigns the appropriate type and value to it.----8=-------8=-------8=-------8=---This means the output value of ListGroups is a LLValue (as usual in LAPI) with internally being of type RecArray - it implements all you need.You may like to refer to "Value API: Java and .NET" documentation how to deal with LLValue; especially the "Content Enumeration Methods" section.Also you may consider using the function "ListRights" instead of ListGroups.However, determining if a user can access a particular objects can be a complex operation depending on the type of the object (for example project vs. document or such special objects like a user's Personal Workspace) and/or how the ACL is constructed (for example permissions for the "owner" - you have to match the user in question against the owner of an object to know if that ACL entry applies to the user.)Furthermore I wonder if you really want to list possibly thousands of thousands of items...I think there are some discussions in other forums in the Knowledge Center how similar could be achieved by Live Reports.

Thank you so much for this help, actually i have combined 2 of the report and i got the report that i need, but now im having an issue running the report from JAVA here is the code that i use,

but its not working with me, i always get report failed, i think i dont know how to pass the input to the report , there is 1 input wich is the groupID, but i have no idea how to pass it ! using this code didnt help

I think that it fails may due to that you assemble the input parameters list on your own - probably processing the input depends on some item you missed. The documentation of RunReport contains the following remark:"To obtain a properly formatted List of Assocs for the reportInputs parameter, execute the GetObjectInfo function and extract the ExtendedData field from the returned objectInfo Assoc. The ExtendedData field contains a value object of type List named Inputs. This list is in the same format as the reportInputs input parameter List. To use this List as the reportInputs parameter, add a Value key and appropriate value to each Assoc in the List. Values must be assigned to each input item."I tried this way and it works. (See attached quick'n dirty example - provided under the usual restrictions.)(btw: I recommend to use column names exactly as they are defined in the schema - I had to convert them first because I am on a case-sensitive SQL Server.)

One note... if you rename your URL input parameters from "inputLabel1" to something friendly, any attempt to run the report from LAPI will fail. Why? The OScript code for the LAPI RunReport is hard coded to look for URL input parameters named.. inputParameter1, 2, 3, etc.

Open Builder and browse to [APIDOC:APIDocuments:RunReport] object's Execute feature. You will see a line (line 92 in my environment) that reads...

label = 'inputLabel' + Str.String( i )

...which causes any execution of RunReport against a LiveReport with URL Parameters not matching the default pattern to fail. You can change the prompt used by the user (i.e. the 'Prompt' field), but if you have customized your LiveReport so that the URL parameters are not the default "inputLabel#" pattern, execution will fail.

I actually filed this a bug once but the response was that this was a known limitation with LAPI. I really don't understand why this isn't considered a bug in the OScript LAPI code. We resolved this by orphaning RunReport into a custom module, and changing the above line to read as follows:

label = inputParam.label
