Workflow Initiator

Hello,

Is there a way to change the Workflow initiator with Content Server Web Services? I noticed that the object WorkflowInstance has an attribute called InitiatorID but when I changed the value with code nothing happens in the GUI and the initiator is still the same.

Where’s a code snippet:

Workflow.ProcessInstance wkf = wf.StartProcess(ref wfAuth, processData, att, memberRoles);

wkf.InitiatorID = initiatorId;

Am I missing something?

The initiator ID is automatically set based on the authenticated user who initiates the workflow. To have this set to some other user you will have to have an authentication token for that user. You can get this by logging in as another user or impersonating another user. You would then just pass in that authentication token along with the StartProcess call and it would be executed as if it were that user instead.

Thanks for the reply.

Our client uses the RCS Authentication and I cannot find the impersonate method on RCS Web Service.

We tried to use the impersonate method on the other Authentication web service and we got the user token but this token has a different size than the token that we get with RCS Authentication and when we try to use the smaller token in the request it gives the following error.

java.nio.BufferUnderflowException

This is the code I’m using:

fAuthService = new Authentication.AuthenticationClient();

fAuthService.Endpoint.Address = new EndpointAddress(authKey);

string userToken = fAuthService.ImpersonateUser(ref fAuthServiceOT, "UserName");

Workflow.OTAuthentication client = new Workflow.OTAuthentication();

client.AuthenticationToken = userToken;

Workflow.ProcessInstance wkf = wf.StartProcess(ref client, processData, att, memberRoles); (this is the line where the error occurs).

What am I doing wrong?

Oh, you are using RCS...authentication is different in this case. There should be some other method on that authentication service to generate a ticket for a different user. GetTicketForUser maybe? Not sure off the top of my head.

In your code are you overlooking an aspect that I know you have to do even with RCSAuth or standard WSAuth

In livelink impersonation can only be done only if you use a "SA" priv user login session.

Steps one takes are basically

Login as SA user
Using that cookie(token) make a call as another user
Livelink audits it and gives you a new user session(token)
You do what you want
Clean up after your stuff.......

According to the TreeVIew soln I have the impersonateuser command in the main webservices namespaces require you to pass a OTAuthentication object which I see you have in RCSAuthentication as well looks exactly the same to me.

I have not seen any new RCS code lately so I could be wrong.

In the C# code based on the flag you can see how we do impersonation.It is probably very similar in java so if you see some way into it.

Don't worry about the whole code just look in that impersonate action and see if you can somehow pass the OTAuthentication object to accept that.

If there is a totally new impersonateuser in that RCS WS please post your soln as well

I tried to use getTicket for User but I got “Authentication Error”.

I have opened up the samle which is supposedly to be used when only livelink webservices are in place.I was merely saying that RCSauth looks very similar to what one does in stanadrd livelink as well so I cannot think if the oscript layer would be that different.

I tried to use the code sample you provided and i get the following error: "java.lang.NegativeArraySizeException" when i'm in this statement:

string impUserToken = authClient.ImpersonateUser(ref impUser, "userlogin");

I think this is related to the fact that RCSAuthentications works differently comparing to regular Authentication.

We use RCS authentication and get the java.lang.NegativeArraySizeException when trying to use the basic authentication service methods. I want to know if you were able to fix this and what was the resolution.
