DocMan.NodeDoesNotSupportAddingVersions Error

I tried to upload a new version for an existing document by calling AddVersionContext() first and then UploadContent(), but got an error with message:"Dispatched service DocumentManagement threw exception DocMan.NodeDoesNotSupportAddingVersions : Node does not support adding versions."

How can i work around this?

You'll have to figure out why you are getting that error first. What type of Node are you trying to add a version to? If you do a DocumentManagement.GetNode() what does the Node.Type property come back as? Also what is the Node.IsVersionable property?

To dig into this some more I'd recommend debugging the issue using Builder (if you have it). It will give you more information on what is going on.

Thanks for reply Jason. The node is versionable and type is Document. I used Visual Studio debugger to get the following screenshot for the node

Ok, so everything looks fine on the client side of things. You'll now have to dig into the server side to figure out why you are getting that error. You'll need Builder for this. Otherwise, you may need to open a ticket with customer support to help you with this one.

Do you own the SubType?

Or is this coming back for a core Content Server SubType?

If it’s your SubType, you need to have designed your node to be versionable (e.g., a Document-like node instead of a Folder).
