What can I use?

Hi guys,

I have a big project envolving content server 10 and I needed to extend some functionalities of the product. I would like to have an interface that would allow me to generate a file for printing to keep track of physical objects that are still not in the CS.

If I can do this, do I need to use Oscript or is it possible to use .Net or java?

Hi Daniel,

There is a Physical Objects API that could be used, although, I don’t know if it provides all the necessary functionality you’d need to accomplish your task.

The /webservices folder in the install for Physical Objects provides that API.

If that API doesn’t directly provide your needs, core Content Web Services allows you to run a LiveReport directly, so you could run whatever reporting SQL you’d need.

WebReports, if you have that module, also has a web service API that you may be able to use to produce the report.

So no, I don’t think you need to write Oscript here.

Physical Objects allows you to track/manage physical (I.e. Non-digital) objects. Not things within CS.

I know the physical records are for physical objects, but the situation is this:

We have one company with a centralized scanning room and there are several company agencies spread across the country that send their documentation to the scanning room

what I want is, imagine one agency is going to send some invoices and some processes to the scanning room. The user would have to say what he is going to send and then the application would create a delivery note saying what is going in the delivery package. that delivery note would be processed when it would arrive to the destination and a user would state in the application that he recieved the package and the application should be able to tell where the documents were.

I could be able to do this with a completely separate application from the Content Server, but I would like, if possible, to know if with C# or Java I could be able to do this within the content server
