customizing language on user selection through URL

Hi,

I am trying to change the language from En to French passing a value through URL. If any one has done any thing regarding that it will be help full. I am trying to use UAPI.SetUserLanguage( dbConnect.fLogin , "_en_US") or "_fr" to switch between two languages in the base html code.

Technically, you cannot switch the language just for a single (web) request. The method you mentioned changes the preferred language for the specified user. (It will have immediate effect on other requests and will remain after your request ends.)

I am getting true result for all three, but it's not changing my language. Did you ever tested this code.

I didn't use it in the code. I read the documentation: "Set the user's preferred metadata language."

If you desire the same effect the CS UI achieves when a user switches the preferred language, you can have a look at the CS implementation on the web page.

Thaks for help.

Another issue, I am trying to create new subtype of docment node, it is creating the node updateing the Categories, but After all this, I am getting the node which is not click able and getting error when trying to download or open it. Illegage function .

Any advise.

which specific file are you referring to please?

yes i have the API docs. but there are no examples of usage.

specifically i want to add a link to the top of a page to toggle between french and english.

Ah, I see, I misunderstood, and obviously pointed you to the page you know well already :-)

I meant the CS user settings page (Tools -> Settings, func=personal.settings, module\home_10_0_0\html\settingsgeneral.html) which changes the user preferred langauge. I guessed that changing the language on the page will end up in the call to UAPI.SetUserLanguage somewhere deep in OScript.

Either you can start with the WebLingo and RH for the particular page and debug through it, or do a search through all ospaces for the particular function - UAPI.SetUserLanguage here. When I did that, it revealed MEMBERSERVICE:MemverService.SetMetadataLanguage, which shows how to call your method with minimum additional code.
