Search for & symbol

Hi,

Is it possible to search the symbol '&' into an attribute using les-services. For example, how can I search the following criteria 'for & from' into an attribute?

Using the following result spec:

lookfor1=complexquery&where1=("Attr_XXXXXX_X":"for & from")

becomes into an error and using the following result spec:

lookfor1=complexquery&where1=("Attr_XXXXXX_X":"for %26 from")

it doesn't obtain any result.

Hi Miguel,

I don’t believe that the ampersand (&) is stored in the search index as a searchable character.

The ampersand is also considered to be a reserved character in the Livelink Query Language (LQL).

Like I said, the character is not stored in the index.

So no matter how you escape the character, you wouldn’t be able to find it.

When searching for the criteria: Attr_XXXXX_X = A&L, I replace & with %26 however,

I've found when typing the following into a browsers URL: ?func=search&where1="Attr_XXXXX_X":"A%26L" I get a search result but if I use the same search string programatically no result is returned.

My application does not return any results if metadata contains the "&". Although, if I take the query string and paste it into a browser's URL I get results.

Any idea why this occurs?

When you say "programmatically", what API are you using?
Content Web Services' SearchService?
At a low level within Oscript?

There is a known bug in CWS directly around the use of ampersands (SFWK-5455).
