Passing attributes into a workflow process via webservice .Net c#

Hi,

Does anyone have any examples, or know of any documentation, showing how to use the Content Server web services API via C# and WCF to firstly intiate a basic, all system handled step (non user stepped) workflow that needs workflow attributes passing to it?

Trying to work out the order of CreateProcess, GetProcessDefinitions, and then how ApplicationData and AttributeData work with each other with no documentation purely from the 'Workflow' namespace and class library definitions after setting up the WCF Service References is proving a slow way of doing it!

Making some progress, and have managed to create a workflow process and found the 'Attribute' classes but can't see how to add 'AttributeData' to the 'ApplicationData' section of my 'ProcessDefinition'?

It looks like 'AttributeData' inherits off the 'ApplicationData' class, but can't see how to send 'Attributes' into the 'ApplicationData' definition?

Hello John,

I have attached a sample program I made a while back (which is written in c#). This is a small sample of some of the workflow web service calls. This will initiate a workflow, add a document to the attachments, add a comment and insert a simple text string into a workflow attribute.

I think where I was going wrong was by trying to set up the applicationData / attributes onto the ProcessDefintion before it was passed into the 'CreateProcess'.

Some of the attributes on the workflow I am trying to initiate via web services are mandatory, so hoping it's still possible to use the CreateProces and follow on with retrieving the workflow attributes and updating in the same way you have in your example.

This should be possible. You should be able to get the attribute information after you call the GetProcessDefinition() method. Let me see if I can modify the example I posted earlier and set the attribute value when calling CreateProcess().

Hello,

I am having the same problem but with a tiny difference. I also want to pass attributes into a workflow via webservice, but I do not want to do it on the initiation, I want to modify a flag:checkbox attribute during the workflow process.

I am having some problems, I have accessed the applicationdata object of the workflow and set it to a newer one which is exactly the same, but has the flag switched to true. In the code I see that the applicationdata has in fact that attribute to true, but in the content server i do not see that change in the workflow attributes tab of the current workflow.

If you want I cant put the code.
