Hello,

I am trying to run below statement in LR but it says missing expression error. We are using oracle 10g database. Can someone tell me if case and substr works in LR or not?

Select SUBCATEGORY =
    CASE WHEN COUNTRYCODE = 'BE'
       THEN distinct(SUBSTRING(SUBCATEGORY, 4)
       ELSE distinct SUBCATEGORY END
From PHILIPS_EF_EREFERENCE Where CATEGORY = %1 And COUNTRYCODE = %2 Order By 1

Hi Narendar,

SubString is the MS SQL function.

Oracle uses SUBSTR.

I do not think Oracle will tolerate “SUBCATEGORY = “ - when I try this I get an error ‘FROM keyword not found where expected’

However, I do not think you can use distinct in this context.

You may need to move that to an outer select.

Try this

Select distinct(SUBCATEGORY)
from ( select CASE WHEN COUNTRYCODE = 'BE' THEN distinct(SUBSTR(SUBCATEGORY, 4)
                             ELSE distinct SUBCATEGORY END as SUBCATEGORY
           From PHILIPS_EF_EREFERENCE Where CATEGORY = %1 And COUNTRYCODE = %2
         ) Order By 1
