How to separate values in extended data (DTree)

Hi all,  I have to create a LiveReport which shows values from the extendeddata field in DTree, specifically the "Comments" and "Instructions" related to a task object.  What is the syntax to separate the Comments and Instructions into their own columns in the LiveReport?

On a related note, what would be the syntax to do a search for specfic attibute/values in the extendeddata field?

Sorry if this is already addressed in a previous post... I tried to do a forum filter on the word "tasks" but the site keeps timing out on me.

You would use a “regular expression”.  REGEXP_like, REGEXP_instr, REGEXP_substr.  As an example, I use this to find the version of a CAD file:

 

translate(substr(dt1.extendeddata, REGEXP_instr(dt1.extendeddata, 'CADAppVersion'), 24), chr(39), chr(32))

 

The raw contents of the field look like this:

A<1,?,'CADAppVersion'='ACAD2007','CADDocSig'='{28579667-2134-4E20-B057-3D8B3FDBD585}','CADDocType'='autocad/drawing','CADLatestVerSig'='{28072C97-C9B2-4234-9529-1CAAB8DDF63B}'>

 

However, your quest will involve more than the simple expression above.
