Can creating the objects with the same names affect the system?

Nowadays the system doesn't allow to create the objects with the same names. But we need to create such objects (for example, when we have to create two different correspondents with the same names and surnames). We can switch off the check if the name is unique or not. But there is an important question: How can this change affect the system? And would it affect at all?

Hi Natalia,

There is quite a bit of code logic that relies on the fact that names are unique under a given ParentID.

I very strongly recommend against doing what you’re suggesting and determine a better way to accomplish this (e.g., storing the true names in a different table but maintaining unique names on the nodes themselves).

with mutlilangauge in CS10 there came up a lot of new pitfalls for this topic (for all other than the Sytem language) ...

After you translated an item and some English-speaking people copied them, you get in the other languages several items with the "same translated names" and a lot off troubles...

    It is indeed possible to have two items show with the same name in CS10 if you have a multilingual environment, but rigour around naming conventions and regular reporting by the Knowledge Manager can help to identify and mitigate this.

    Please note that if you're in a multilingual environment and want more - such as multilingual attributes (values, facets, columns) - we at Cassia Content Management have developed the "Enhanced Multilingual Capabilities" module (EMLC) to address this and other multilingual functionality within the product!
