Error Adding Cover sheet in Transmittal

Hello,

I am getting this below error:

Content Server Error: Error adding a cover sheet to the specified object.
[Value exceeds defined attribute length.]

when I try to add Cover Sheet to my transmittal. What could be the possible reason? Please help.

Hi Sharmistha,

I have not personally worked with Transmittals or anything related to this aspect of Opentext, but I definitely can relate your error to something that I used to face. I am not sure if this will be of any help to you, so I am just giving it a shot.

This error used to happen when I was working with Forms & Form Templates.

When a user would submit his/her form, on submitting the same, he/she would end with the same [Value exceeds defined attribute length] error. The reason for this was that a certain text field (you still cannot figure out which one from the error message) in the form template was assigned a much lesser size/length value than what the user was trying to enter. Therefore, increasing the size of this text field resolved this issue.

If you can somehow co-relate this with your scenario, I am guessing Cover Sheets are similar to forms which has a backend form template (I may be totally wrong here again), I hope this give you an idea of what your issue could be.

I too had faced this issue with transmittals only but with documents, and I was able to solve the issue by increasing the size of Text fields in the form...

But this time (in case of cover sheets) it does not work even when i increase the size of text fields. I even copied the templates in my home and tried to create a transmittal and to my surprise it was working... but it does not work for our user.. . Unable to replicate the issue at their end.

I could be wrong but isn't there a procedure where you make up a Form Template and then painstakingly convert those into a MS Word Template?Better still I would check the word macro's as well that tries to fill everything in which the Transmittal cover sheet uses.Could it be that the Form Template has been changed meaning extended , but maybe the word template has not. I have a feeling that you are increasing the word template and not really the form template on which transmittals work off. It is also possible to bump up logging and even put builder to trace the user error but the easiest would be to open a ticket with OT and have a specilaist look at the error.

My understanding in Transmittals is

Form Template> HTML view in WORD-Oscript sends properties at run time to the iuser's browser->Word Macro fills the stuff on user's computer->puts it to adlib for conversion
