Apply RM Classification

Hello,

I am trying to apply a RM Classification to a node via web service, but when a invoke the webservice RMApplyClassification nothing happens. The parameters I am passing are:

the record mangament authentication
the id of the node
the id of the classification that i want to apply
null
null

As I do not know which values do I need to insert in the last two parameters I put null. Am I doing something wrong?

DM Webservices do not imply that you have the code to get RM things done.Can we see your WSDL that ends in

The above are from my VM.When you source the wsdl for RecordsManagement do you get anytrhing that says

you have created a service?

If you are past the initial setup problems either on IIS or Tomcat,without using code can you use the GUI and navigate to the object and do what you wanted to do?.If you can't then there is more RM stuff that needs to happen in your livelink.

Hopefully that will give you a clearer picture.

If you are sure your webservices call is hitting a livelink server then if you put debug=2 and wantlogs=true, wantlapilogs=true you should see what livelink is receiving and replying back.

Here's what a recent java code I did I used it like this

//APPU ADDED FOR RECMAN
           RecordsManagement   rm= getRMService(admToken);


           //APPU ADDED FOR RECMAN CHANGE TO WHAT WORKS IN YOURS
                        rm.rmApplyClassification(575633, 35563, null, null);

Hi Pedro,

What language do you use for the RM Web Service's client?

When you say that nothing happens - does this mean that you don't get the result from the function call at all - because there should be a boolean result returned from the server.

Is there any stack crawl on the server side?

I have a related question: I am assuming that the second parameter is the node ID of the classification. Assuming that a classification is just a DAPI node, how do I go about resolving the DAPI node for the classification? I need to do this because I can not make an assumption about the data ID (I'm writing a data migration app so I need to apply the classification based on a path much as I would create a document in a folder based on a path I pass in.

In theory this should be straightforward except after installing the RM and Classifications module, I don't notice that there are any additional root nodes in the root node registry, so getRootNode("Classifiations") won't work. Is there a way of resolving an RM Classification's node ID using only web services calls?

There is a method in the RecordsManagement web-service to get the root node of the classifications:

RMClassDefInfo classInfo = recManagement.RMGetClassificationRoot();

Looks good although I would have thought you would have added a Classifications root node to the root node registry so you could just use the GetRootNode function to return the DAPI Node. But this works too.

I won't be able to really test the effectiveness though until I get my other problem solved (see my other post).

Yes, this works perfectly. I also got the basic case to work, that is applying a classification to a folder I just created during a migration run.
