Search within a Project

Hi,

I have a requirement where I need to search within a particular project using web services. I need to set the slice where I need to search.

query.setDataCollectionSpec( ?? );

I have the Project Id and the Project Name. How do I obtain slice info?

Could you not accomplish this using searchapi

There are plenty of examples in its

Documentation

Search API is the REST implementation

That goes like livelinkurl?func=search

The livelink system uses this as well

It is much easier IMHO

Actually this is regarding a assigment where we already have all the code in place. I need to modify the code to search only within a particular prroject instead of whole enterprise.Please tell me how can i do it through EWS.

Just ensure that you restrict the location to the positive DataID of the project: “OTLocation”:12345

I tried doing that but it gives me an error:

Error : error in data collection spec syntax - expecting comma separated quoted list

My query is like this:

            String searchSpec;
            SingleSearchRequest query = new SingleSearchRequest();
            query.setQueryLanguage("Livelink Search API V1");
           query.setFirstResultToRetrieve(1);
           query.setNumResultsToRetrieve(5);
           query.setResultOrderSpec("sortByRegion=OTCreatedBy");
            String projectID = "123232";

(this is getting values from a hashmap and generating the string, I am putting it directly here for clarity)searchSpec ="where1="Attr_143051_16":"IfcSpace"&boolean2=and&where2="Attr_143051_2":"A Architect"&boolean3=and&where3="Attr_143051_3":"DR Drawing"&boolean4=and&"OTLocation":127184";

query.setResultSetSpec(searchSpec);

This returns me all the results, outside the project as well.

Please tell me where am I going wrong?

I missed putting this in the snippet. This is also set.

If I do not mention
query.setDataCollectionSpec("'" +dataCollections.get(0).toString()+"'");

It gives me an error. And if I set it, it would ignore my OTLocation parameter. How should I tackle this?

Hi Shruti,

The DdataCollectionSpec has to be sinqle-quotation-mark separated.

As per my C# SearchService example, posted in the 9.7.1 sample area:

        //query.DataCollectionSpec = "'LES Enterprise'";         // use the Enterprise search slice

query.DataCollectionSpec = "'" + dataCollections[0] + "'"; // use the first search slice in the list

Your searchSpec isn’t quite correct.

You need to include your OTLocation directive inside a &where# parameter… not just tacked on the end:

searchSpec ="where1="Attr_143051_16":"IfcSpace"&boolean2=and&where2="Attr_143051_2":"A Architect"&boolean3=and&where3="Attr_143051_3":"DR Drawing"&boolean4=and&"OTLocation":127184";
