ELS 10.2.1 & Archive Server 10.5 setup question

Hello

Our client currently use Archive Server 10.5. As you may be aware, Archive Server 10.5 does no longer use RCS 10.2.1 and is now 'stand-alone' component.

We now need to install ELS & OTDS as this is needed for eDOCS RM integration with Content Server.

My question is, can we install ELS & OTDS without the Archive Server component on a seperate server and then use the existing Archive Server 10.5? if this is possible, how would we set this up?

Hi,

Yes this is possible. On another computer, you install EL and OTDS using the Enterprise Library 10.2.1 UPD3 ISO image with Mastersetup. There you select the scenarios “Content Server” and “Enterprise Library Services”. On the next page “Product Groups” all required setups are pre-selected – so no need to change selection there.

OTDS is part of RCS, so no dedicated selection in Mastersetup.

During the installation of the Archive Services you select Remote Archive Server and give the existing AS 10.5 into the connection details.

The Enterprise Library server then has got an ArchiveLink interface, that should be used instead of the ArchiveLink interface of the existing AS 10.5. However, if eDOCS RM is really the only EL user, the existing ArchiveLink interface in AS 10.5 could be continued to be used by the existing ArchiveLink clients.

Just a another question, both existing AS 10.5 and the new ELS 10.2.1 will be using the same Content Server 10 instance - do you see any potential issues with this?

The AS 10.5 is currently in use for Email archving and (as already mentioned) the new ELS 10.2.1 will be used for eDOCS RM.

No, I don’t see issues.

So if you already have an existing Content Server 10, then discard the suggestion to select the Content Server scenario.

Instead, on the computer, where CS is installed, install the Extensions for Enterprise Library module (and if not yet existing: Classifications and Records Management modules).

Hello everyone,

I have a similar issue about this topic. I need to install ELS 10.2.1 with update 3 on a seperate computer. I have already installed and configured OTDS 10.5 and AS 10.5. I have only one resource id which is Content Server on OTDS 10.5 and from ELS installation I've stuck when I check "use an existing OTDS installation"

Could you pls.help for this point.
