Enterprise Library Data Source folder question

Hi all

Our client is using ELS 10.2.1 as part of their eDOCS archiving solution. Part of this setup, Index processes for Enterprise Library Data Source were created.

I am wondering when is this index used for searching (assuming the purpose of this index process is for searching)? None of the users use Content Server and all end user search activities are performed within eDOCS directly.

The index folder is taking up a lot of space and we are wondering whether it is possible not to use this in our scenario? By not using the index, will users still be able to search for archived content within eDOCS?

Any feedback much appreciated.

I also have the same question about the purpose of the Enterprise Library Date Source folder? We using Content Server 10 with xECM for SAP, the EL datasource folder was setup but nothing seems to be using it. Can someone explain the purpose of this index and which scenarios it gets used in?

It may help if you want to run native Records management of Livelink. A Data source folder gets created when you create
an Application using RCS. An application is nothing but a volume in livelink which the livelink search subsystem can index.

Without the application entry point the Enterprise Library web services layer in the RCS realm cannot create or do livelink based
activities from a programming perspective which is what SAP is doing a swell as eDocs is doing.It is basically creating objects

in livelink with high level wrapper code.

The programming instructions code are against the model that you defined when you created the application and told what the

business work spaces et al are.

See if you can see the architecture diagram and identify the moving parts of your solution.

If you delete that volume your application is also done away with so if you cannot commit search resources,create a trigger that

basically empties the load for that extractor.Obviously ask OT if you really do not need the data source folder or not first....
