ELS Error - Cannot map Otds user - otadmin@otds.admin to resource

Hi Friends,

We have Archive Server 10.1.1 set up on AIX 6.1. We have scenario to archive SAP documents into Opentext. (We don’t have Content Server)

We have used OTDS authentication while logging into Opentext Admin client. We are successful while login, creating archives, buffers etc.

We have currently 2 high priority issues:

1. We able to archive documents being into SAP from transactions in GOS menu, but while retrieving the same document in Doculink we are getting error on SAP screen. See figure 1 in attached document.

2. While trying to create application ID in Enterprise Library in Admin client, we are getting pop up window error. See figure 2 in attached document.

I am not a SAP expert, but after looking at the RCS logs. I can shed some light on the Enterprise Library side of things.

If you look into the RCS log soon after RUNLEVEL MAX 9:

This is a clear indication that EL is looking for a installation of content server, You need to install content server, then create a content server resource from admin client and then bind the resource (GUID) to content server fromm its administration pages. Once you have done this you must not encounter any issues specific to EL.

Imagine EL as a virtual triangle, where one end of the triangle is content server, the other end is RCS (OTDS) and 3rd end is SAP. You got to ensure all 3 ends communicate with each other and this requires getting content server in the mix. Hope I got your query answered.

This is correct.

Currently there is no Content Server as written in the first post. If you don't need a Content Server for your scenario going forward, than you should not install the Enterprise Library Services (Metadata Services, Content Web Services, etc.). In this case you should stick to the Archive Server deployment scenario from the Master installer.

As quick hack to get the Archive Link (= Archive Server) scenario running u may set the RCS configuration parameter:
<hostname>/Runtime And Core Services/Configuration/Enterprise Library Services/elservice.ICS_SCENARIO to the empty value (current value is probably ELIB).

This will bypass any record check.

But in the "long run" I'd advise contacting the support department for help fixing your installation!

Thank you very much on first hand for your replies..i am very much relived..

Actually, our requirement is to archive generated PDF from Streamserve which SS will archive directly into Opentext and link back in SAP. Requirement is from SS application to communicate with OT archive. For this SS requires few details from OT archive server. One of the primary details SS wants from OT is "Application ID", which can only be created in ELS under Opentext admin client. At this moment ELS throwing errors due to otds user cannot be authenticated.

My primary goal is to somehow skip that error and able to create an application in ELS. Even i got doubt that Its looks for resource which is from Content Server. We don't have requirement of Content Server here, niether we have license for it.

Experts, I would like to know without Content Server, can we able to create application in ELS to which OTDS user can authenticate? and i can map that Application to SS application? any work around pls...I already had opened a case with OT support, but till now they have not come back to me yet...

I tried your trick to by pass ICS check, but its seems it does not worked.

Are you saying that by this i can skip at least archivelink erro in SAP ? Or something else?

Hi Andreas,

let me clarify a bit what we are trying to achieve here with Ranjeet:

- we have product OpenText SAP Document Presentment which has archive filter to store documents directly to archive server and update archivelink tables in sap via rfc call.

-this filter communicates to AS via enterplise library service, i.e. we need to create application in els and in filter set up that application name

-we don't use any storage in content server, we need directly archive to AS

-we are running ELS on aix6.1, this makes us problem as content server doesn't support this platform, otherwise we would install it.

question - can we have enterprise library services application that does only archiving without content server installed?

Enterprise Library is the integration technology for Archiving, Document Management and Records Management.

More technically: If you are using the Enterprise Library Web Services, then you need both Archive Server and Content Server incl. Records Management modules. Within that Content Server you install the Extensions for Enterprise Library. In your Tomcat/RCS you install the Metadata Services and Content Web Services.

As Content Server is not available on AIX, you need another computer with a platform supported by Content Server.

On the other computer you install the Content Server deployment scenario from the mastersetup.

Then you connect the Content Web Services on your AIX computer with the Content Server on the other computer.

In this case, indeed you need the full Enterprise Library, including Content Server.

Please choose the Content Server deployment scenario from the mastersetup and follow the instructions in the Enterprise Library installation guide.

Then continue as described in the StreamServe docu.

In a project that I did a few years back,SS was brought in to the mix as the project was getting ready to go live.The SS consultants at the time did not know anything how to attach stuff to SAP when archive server is in the mix.They just kept on saying we give to OpenText without actually understanding that there is no OpenText as a product.The saving grace was a bright OT RMlink/Archive Link consultant who told the SS consultants to drop files on a pre-determined naming convention.He then used a C# routine and created files ready for consumption in a tool that SAP /Archivelink people uses all the time.It is one of the Document pipelines and is called EXR3.I am a livelink guy and I use tools like OI to import content into livelink.This is similar its syntax is given in the programming guide.While it is not synchronous as the EL product it was what the customer opted for.

An EL is just a pass thru mechanism.The Brains of the application as Vijhay says is mostly livelink,I hate to use the name CS.Because the languages of Livelink and AS are written in non-standard languages,what OT is doing is creating a middleware called (RCS) that has java code to interact with livelink,AS and SAP.An application is basically a volume in livelink,just like a Enterprise volume or a personal volume or a project volume in livelink.Now once you get content in livelink you can use its many advanced features like RM search etc that is the bonus here.If you do go for the suggested SS approach of using a Livelink application that means livelink should be there and configured to receive your programming instructions.Perhaps SS has already made an application capable of talking with livelink.

If you decompile the RCS classes you will be able to see what ll the individual services do.It is also advisable to go /read a few articles on what the whole hullabaloo of EL is.
