Fault exception when setting hhterms=true

Hi,

I am getting this fault exception when I try to do a simple search using Livelink Search API by setting outputformat = xml. The same query works if I remove the highlighted portion.

lookfor1=complexquery&within1=all&outputformat=xml&hhterms=true&where1=test

Exception - Set Specification Syntax Failure. You are not allowedto modify the 'outputformat'

I'd appreciate any help as to where this error might come from.

Thewhere1 should immediately follow the within1. Try the following.

lookfor1=complexquery&within1=all&where1=test&outputformat=xml&hhterms=true

What version of CS and update are you running? I was able to execute the following (your query) on CS 10 Update 12 successfully.

I should have been more specific - I can get the reply when I make the direct http call. But I am trying to issue this via a webservice call to the search API.

Hi Rizwan,

The SearchService web service which you are referring to does not allow you to set parameter payloads in the same way you would with the Search API.

The output format cannot be modified from XML since the result set will be loaded into strongly-typed objects exposed via the SearchService.

Please see my posted example (in the 9.7.1 examples area) if you wish to use the SearchService.

No further development is being put into the SearchService by R&D here at OpenText, so if possible, I strongly recommend writing against the Search API using HTTP calls as opposed to the SOAP-based SearchService.

Is there documentation on issuing http webrequests against open text from a C# or Java application? (along with passing credentials).

In the context of the Search API, there isn’t documentation covering how to write an app that issues HTTP requests.

Typically you would POST login credentials to the login page and read the LLCookie value, then pass that cookie in with any requests to the Search API.

The initial release of the REST API for Content Server has its own authentication mechanism and will be rounded out as time goes on.
