Exclude copyig versions on node copy

Hi,

Is there a way to exclude copying versions of a document or node when its being copied. Currently if a document has 10 versions, and it copied then all 10 versions get copied.. Ther is no option from inteface to limit that.

Is there a way from code that will let the latest version get copied. In help, there is DAPI.COPY_CURRENTV -

A copy option for copying only the current version of all nodes. Used by DAPI.CopyNode() and DAPI.CopyANode().

But doesnt' appear to be used anywhere.. How can I code this in callback or any way else

Not sure if it is because of this way that livelink handles copies of a node

Assume a source node 12345 with version 1 version 1 is put into the dversdata\providerdata table either to EFS or SQL or Archive as a file say \\somepath\..\..\..\12345.dat

user adds version 2 file gain added and dversdata\providerdata to \\somepath\..\..\..\12345.dat this goes on and on for the source node all versions are discrete files

Now let us say we copy the source node to a target node

Does livelink make any number of copies

No it just increases a REFCNT field in providerdata

Now if a user edits the file in the copied file immediately separate entries are made for that version.

I seem to have created a long time back a command that takes an existing node and creates a new nodeid based on that not sure what I used there

But if space was your concern space does not increase because of copies.

Sapna, I am sure its possible, I guess it is just one of the many things that are not show in the UI by default, you could implement a simple customisation to add a checkbox to the Copy UI and then trace the calls through and call the appropriate DAPI call.
