how to build a reprot for a folder usage

Hi , i wanted to get a report specific to a folder and it's items and sub-items. report requirement is to know the usage of a folder. for e.g how many views, edits in a specific period.

how can i pull this kind of report? please help me.

If it's Oracle, there's a function that will enable you to traipse through a structure.

You'll need the DAUDITNEW for the logging events. If you don't know the schema, you'll need a DB Tool (SQL Developer, Toad, etc.). If you don't know the codes, you'll need to go to the Champion Toolkit and get the Schema companion (it'll provide the most common). You'll also need to check your Admin pages to see what is enabled in Logging. You may want to turn on more.

You'll be accessing the DTREE(for the folder structure and document names), DAUDITNEW(for the activity), KUAF(for the performer, if desired).

Here's a couple of LRs that will list all that has occurred in a date and hour you specify and a couple of other combinations. They do not report in the manner that you want. They don't go through the Folder & sub-folders. They're messy (large) because of all the codes, subtype codes, MIMEtypes and their conditions. It'll give you an idea of what you can find out. These dump the DAUDITNEW table.

If you're talking about dumping in summary (counts), it also depends upon how large the DB is, how long CS has been installed and how many users, what kind of activity.

A audit you can get it from Webserver logs

And use a parser like log parser

I believe Bhupinder Singh of OT or I could

Be somebody else

But the idea is like this you have a folder

You put a image like a small white background

You link the presentation of the folder to

This image so that when you browse the folder

Is fetched then you hide it

Now you can kind of equate the folder

Browse to the audit event of that hidden item

Dauditnew and auditstr is what you are after

Execute a NDA with OT it is free

Literally thousands of reusable queries

And a search function

By using Log Parser or Log Parser Studio or others that are not free, you can gather statistics about Folder access. You can probably scan for the word "browse" and know that the URL is related to a Folder. When you click into a Folder, copy-n-paste the URL to a Notepad and look it over for keywords. You wouldn't browse a document or any other object. You would Open, Fetch, Edit, Download, etc. There may be a combination required. Log Parser is a gem of a utility for stats to determine the Browser versions, Java versions, even IPs (Brava Compare somehow records the actual User IP), true timings, etc.
