Hey!

So I created a project in Java in which I call some web services in order to upload a file to a folder in the content server.

What I'm doing is calling my class in a step of a workflow (with a custom script in OScript) and the execute the method which does what I want.

When I execute my program in Eclipse, everything goes as expected, but when I try to execute from my workflow, it doesn't work. It appears to stop when it finds the command:

Authentication_Serviceservice = new Authentication_Service(location,new QName("urn:Core.service.livelink.opentext.com","Authentication" ) );

Is it possible for me to do what I want to do?

Can you describe in a little more detail what exactly you are trying to do (at a higher level)?

It seems odd to me that you would call out to a Java web services function from OScript. If you are writing OScript code then the web services functionality is all available at the OScript layer already.

We are more familiar with java, so we were trying to avoid writing code in OScript and try to do what we wanted in java.

We wanted to upload a file to the attachments folder of a workflow and in java we can accomplish that, but in OScript we can't figure out how to do it. As we managed to do it via WebServices, we figured we could just do it in java and call the method in OScript.

I'm using the 10.0 version with update 12.

I was now trying to add the attachment by OScript.

I managed to create a node in the Attachment folder. I did it like this:

I created a DAPINODE (using AllocNode), defined it's name and the subtype.

Then I use the function CreateNode and create it in the Attachments folder. The problem is that I don't know how to specify the document I want to pass as the node contents. Can you help me with this?

You should be able to reference the file to grab the contents if you just pass the full path including filename into NodeCreate as createInfo.versionFile.

Hi Ian,

Sorry, but I didn't understand your answer since I can't find the createInfo.versionFile.

When I call the AllocNode function, I pass the DAPISESSION as the argument.

When I call the CreateNode function, the arguments are the parent Node and the new Node. I don't find here any createInfo.version. Am I understanding / doing something wrong?

Actually, a colleague just pointed out you're using DAPI.CreateNode here. This is a low-level create API and is generally not used in most custom applications. Creating nodes in this way can lead to significant problems for a number of reasons but mainly because node callbacks will not be executed.

The LLNode object in LLIAPI has wrapper functions for all the relevant creation tasks and NodeCreate is typically used for this. There is a createInfo Assoc data structure which you can pass create options such as the file location into. This is what I was referring to. I think I just misunderstood how you were going about this.

If you're going to be creating nodes using Oscript it's generally recommended to attend Oscript development courses first to ensure you don't cause problems with the integrity of your system.

As Ian and others point out Oscript is best learned by attending aclass.

But for your purpose I will share a snippet of code CS10 Upd 11

I have used a lliapi node implementation as it is the best practice.

The rest is for you to figure out yourself I have put lots of debugginginfo in the code.

I hate to attach the module for obviously support reasons

But I took my event script in a workflow and did it.

It worked …

No error checking no guarantees
