Direct HTTP Search vs Search via Web Service

Is there a difference in results returned by a direct http call to perform search vs. using the web service? It doesnt look like all results match up when we perform the same search using both methods. I'm trying to decide which method returns all the correct results.

Hi Rizwan,

Common code executes the seach queries in both cases, however the query generation code and output formats are different. Please provide an example of queries that differ. Identical results are expected for the same queries.

If you want to see the raw search query strings for yourself, check the Search Federator logs or Content Server thread logs with [options] wantDebugSearch=TRUE set in the opentext.ini.

I should also point out that where you have an option, we would recommend using the XML/HTTP API. This is the one we currently invest in and extend, and is closer to the next generation REST APIs that will be available later.
