Recommended version of Eclipse

Hi,

Does Open Text have a recommendation as to which version of Eclipse we should use for CS 10.5 development? The plug-in seems to work with Eclipse SE but should I be using Eclipse EE? As I understand it, the primary difference between these editions is that the EE edition allows the IDE to take over a tomcat instance in the same way that the plug-in allows the IDE to take over Content Server.

If you're looking for a recommendation, I'd say Eclipse Standard.

Other versions should work in general. We're just adding a plug-in. We don't have the resources to test all the many, many combinations of plug-ins out there.

If there's a version you'd like to use, give it a try! If you run into problems, let us know. We'll probably tell you to go back to using Standard as a workaround, but it would be good to know what doesn't work and if it's a problem we can address on our end, we'd like to fix it, balancing all the other priorities we have.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried out Eclipse SE but I'm trying out Eclipse EE. My main interest in EE is that the Open Text REST API requires the EE since the app gateway runs on Tomcat.

I don't know if this is due to Eclipse SE vs EE, but yesterday when I tried to create my first module, I got an unexpected error while trying to add my first ospace. When I switched IDEs, I can't even recreate the module. The error message just says "An error occurred, see log file for details". Can anyone tell me WHAT log file? Eclipse has no log, there is nothing in any of the Content Server logs, and nothing in the Event Viewer log. Where am I supposed to be looking for such errors?

Also, I noticed that unless you run Eclipse as Administrator, it will not allow you to stop and start the Content Server service.

Hi Hugh.

Eclipse does have a log. It's viewable in the "Error Log" view in Eclipse itself, or you can find the file in your workspace folder in .metadata/.log

OK, I found the log file. I am getting the following exceptions (in sequential order). I really am not sure what these are about but it appears that Oclipse requires additional resources I haven't seen documented:
