livereport to display searchstats.StatsSummary

Hi,

I know we can generate Search statistics summary using the admin page but is it possible to generate the same using a livereport so that even non-admins can view this report?

Here is the Admin page url - http://localhost/otcs/cs.exe?func=searchstats.StatsSummary

I'm looking the above page results into a livereport which can be accessed by non-admin users.

Yes, you can. Stats are in several tables, but you don't need them all to do the type of stats in the Admin page. Here's one that may help you get started.

The one catch is that the UserID doing the Searching is masked and you can't determine who searched for what.

You can pull a lot of detail out, as well. But it gets fairly complicated when "Advanced Searching" is employed. But you can determine what kind of searches or if repeated searches for specific objects are taking longer than others (however that'll help you). The only way to tell who is searching is by one of two ways: the IIS logs or the SummaryTimings, if enabled. But (another "but") that would involve putting data from two separate query sources together.

I'm not sure, but I think there's a way to link LogParser up through an API to a DB.

LogParser: the best tool outside of your brain....well, except for a good set of wrenches, a solid drill, a socket set, saw, ladder, a neighbor to borrow from, etc.
