Problem with WEBDAV on builder v 10

Hello,

Appologies if this question had already been asked before.
I have a contentServer 10, with WEBDAV 10.1.0 installed. Windows 2008 server, and IIS 7.5, Internet Explorer 8.

I can use WebDAV when OTCS service is running, However if run the CS Builder I get a message saying

"Failed to navigate to a WebDAV location. Your system probably does not have WebClient Service installed".

I did receive the error when running WEBDAV for the first time and to fix it i had enabled windows Desktop Experience.

The builder is supposed to work as the service. Have i done anything wrong here?

When developing code that relies on Java one usually adds that parameter If you look in your builder shortcut it may be something like this
E:\webApps\opentext\bin\llbuilder.exe webbuilder.lxe E:\webApps\opentext\config\opentext.ini
If you need java VM support which I think is what webdav is looking for
E:\webApps\opentext\bin\llbuilder.exe webbuilder.lxe E:\webApps\opentext\config\opentext.ini -loadjavavm
This is documented in the online builder documentation perhaps not explicitly for webdav.
and you did not ask but here are things one takes precaution in a builder env
Builder runs interactively as your process.For e.g in our organization we use a domain user to run livelink services and our domain functional user cannot login via RDP.So what we do is basically we have a developer AD group created who has access to the EFS.If we do not do that categories and other things on startup will start throwing errors as the developer who invoked builder do not have access to the filesystem.I usually turn off the Admin services otherwise my builder session will get flooded by extractor wake ups unless I need search which is not many times.I also make a backup of a working env before I "peek" into OT modules albeit "locked".Perhaps all these may not need to be adhered when one goes to CSIDE.

Hello,

Builder doesn't run the same as the service. Builder is a single thread and doesn't load anything in the [loader] section, like agents, DA or JavaServer. WebDAV relies on the JavaServer component to be loaded, so it won't function while running Builder.

Loading the JVM into memory doesn’t load all the classes that normally would be loaded when the javaserver thread loads under llserver.

You have manually kick off the javaserver stuff from a command line while Builder is running.

From your <OTHOME>\bin directory:

<OTHOME>\jre\bin\java.exe -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=<DEBUGPORT> -classpath <OTHOME>\javaserver\lib\startup.jar -Djava.security.auth.login.config=<OTHOME>\config\javaserver.login.config -Dcom.opentext.webdav.module.weblinklog=! com.opentext.elf.Elf ..\config\opentext.ini

Replace <OTHOME> with your install directory path and <DEBUGPORT> with any free port number on the box.

Leave that command window open until you’re done doing your work in Builder.

When you’re done, press Ctrl+C to kill the Java app.

That is very informative and thank you for this.I could basically get webdav working after I removed -loadjavavm as well

Perhaps if it has not been documented it should go to the Builder/CSIDE documentation or environment setup.

Just a small note, I get this warning about RMI Connection but dont think this affect my use of WEBDAV:
