Creation and Deletion of Application fails

Hi there,

I am hoping someone can help me with an issue we're experiencing when trying to delete and recreate an application. We can successfully delete it in the Admin Client - but it’s still in the Enterprise Library Volume, so trying to re-create it also fails. We tried to create a new one and delete that one - same result.

Any ideas on why this is happening and what we can do about it?

The LR that you create tells me that you know that there is livelink being contacted for the operation.So what would happen if you or or your system admin go to the search area in livelink and deleted it there?I opened a feature request for this to clean up deleted applications a few years earlier but obviously at those times one could use livelink to delete it.I would think if the volume was not empty you would run into some difficulties but you could just have a go at that.To me it looks like you are doing some setup stuff but integration programs like SAP would probably need a pplication to get into livelink ...

Please excuse the late response.

This issue is a bug during delete, that was introduced with CS 10 U11.It’s mentioned in the EL Release Notes.

It will be fixed in the next patch for EL 10.2.

You cannot create the application again, as long as its node exists (i.e. as long as it’s shown in the livereport).

I’m afraid there is no GUI for deleting the node. If you really need to re-create the same application, you can implement a simple Web Services client, which uses the Enterprise Library call disposeObject(https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/piroot/elws/v100201/elws-pgd/en/html/meth-ifelbielservice-disposeobject.htm) to delete the node giving the nodeId of the volume.

I will update the Java Programming Sample shortly to include an executable tool, that does the above for you.

I created the mentioned tool and added it to the EL Programming Sample in OTDN.

It requires the upcoming patch to work correctly.

I suggest you contact Customer Support in case this is anurgent issue.

As far as I know, the referenced problem was introduced with Update 11. Thus I suppose you’re actually having a different problem.
