No Method for Live Reports - webreferences.jar

Hello,

we have been using the JAR-FIle webreferences.jar from the tree view example for our java client.

However we want to run LiveReports now, but the method docMan.runReport ist not available. And class ReportResult is missing too.

I searched the forums and think this is an old version because Jason Smith wrote:

"For features that should be part of the core set of CWS services we continually add to the existing services and include these updates in the Content Server cumulative updates. For example, coming in update 9 we have added the ability to run Live Reports to the DocumentManagement service."

Is there are new version where we can download the webreferences.jar in the latest version?

Hi Wolfgang,

You can simply just regenerate your client jar using the wsimport command to create the client proxies and then bundling the results into a jar file.

If you need more information on how to do this, take a look at the new documentation that was created for 10.5 here:

Unfortunately the bug "Error loading ReportResult.isLimit" is not fixed but we can workaround this issue (hardcoded limit).

Another problem is that ReportResult doesn't deliver correct results.

I iterate the return values but all i get are the column titles:

DATAID

NAME

CREATEDATE

MODIFYDATE

I expected this to be delivered:

The live report is working fine (it is a small report with 25 rows).

It may seem that I only get the first row, but the amount of rows delivered is ok (25 rows), but every row shows the titles, and no content.

Here is the code:

ReportResult result = fDocMan.runReport(9030211, null);
           List<RowValue> res = result.getContents();

           for (RowValue r : res) {
               List<DataValue> data = r.getValues();

               for (DataValue d : data) {
                   System.out.println(d.getKey() + " " + d.getDescription());

               }
           }

out.println is as follows:

You are not casting the values correctly.You have to ask your java program what the instanceof variable which it returns

I am facing similar issue. is there a way to get the rows (actual values) from the report? in nutshell, I need to print values returned by a live report.

The DataValue is a construct that the programmer needs to get into by basically understanding what its type is

so you check if it is StringValue,IntegerValue and like that you can get to the actual value like in your category/attribute case as well.

Quite possible if Chris Webster watching this he could give a much better explanation than I can

Is there a way to create Live reports using the Content Server Webservices? I am able to run them and go through the results, but I would like to create the reports through the code instead of going into the content server and creating it manually.

I'm no Chris Webster, but I think what you need is going to look something like this:

...But I am not 100% sure about the syntax of the getValue() function. It may be a getValues() function which returns an array of the same type (i.e int[], String[] etc). I'm doing this from memory from my other job site where I'm an architect and not a programmer
