Data migration SAP

Hello,

I have my mind in a terrible mess because of this data migration. I don´t have any idea of how a migration of SAP documents can be made.

We have documents of SAP in an content server that is not Opentext. We want to migrate this documents to Opentext Content Server or Opentext Archive Server (I don´t know now to which of these two systems they want to take the documents, as I understand after reading documentacion of the Knowldege Center I suposse it would be Archive Server). My first questions are: SAP documents must be kept in Archive Server? Which metadata are necessary to save in Archive Server in order to have "communication" between Archive Server and SAP? How Archive Server and SAP communicate between them?

As you can see I don´t have any clear idea. It´s my firs approach to the world of SAP and I´m completly lost.

You may want to ask you question in the SAP discussion list for xECM. Although I was not able to find it that quickly

Extended ECM for SAP is the product that links SAP with OpenText content server.

SAP has defined an interface for Archiving documents from SAP. This interface is called ArchiveLink. You can use this interface to store SAP documents in OpenText archive server.

Your migration question you really need to ask somewhere else. You may want to contact our service organization in Spain (+34 91 141 90 00). They have experience with SAP, Archive Server and Extended ECM for SAP.

HI Diana, just adding a couple of lines to Hans comments.

Regarding the migration, you should identify where user will access to documents:

Only SAP, CS+SAP

In order to migrate the documents, they should be migrated from Old Repository to OpenText Archive Server using SAP(it is the only one who knows the document which should be migrated)

Ones documents are in AS you can make available them in OpenText Content Server as well.
