Transport Warehouse - extending to support a custom subtype?

Is there anyway to add to the list of subtypes that the CS 10.5 Transport Warehouse supports? We are working with a custom subtype and would like to be able to transport these custom objects from one system to another.

Do we need to create an XMLNode for the custom subtype? How do we register the custom subtype with the Transport subsystem?

Hi Larry,

The LLNode is where you set your object to be transportable, allowing it to be added to the Warehouse.

Set the feature "fTransportableSubType" to be the same as the fSubType value. The following example shows how to set fTransportableSubType for folders:

fTransportableSubType = 0

If your custom type is not supported yet by the XML Import and Export module, it may be necessary to create a custom XML Node under LLNode. The complete documentation for this customization could be found in the knowledge Base: “XML Import and Export Guide”, chapter “Custom Object Types and XML Nodes”.

Hi Juliano,

Thanks for your directions. I set the fTransportableSubType value in the LLNode of our custom subtype. I also had to set up an XML Node for the custom subtype. I tested that seperately with XMLImport and XMLExport. Once I had that working correctly, I tested with the Transport Warehouse on a couple of systems. Once the custom subtype is deployed, the admin has to resolve the categories and workspaces to the target systems resources since the object ids are different.

Using the new Transport Warehouse worked great and saved a ton of custom programming time.

Hi Larry, I am glad to hear that!

In regard to categories or other resources, you can set it as a dependency in the XML, so the transport system will try to automatically find it in the target system or, if it can't find, allow you to manually map to a new value.
