Search and retrieve documents within CS 10 from java application

We have a Java application(webpage) from where we need to search and retireve documents from CS 10.

Can anyone please let me know the steps or any documentation from basic in order to retrieve the documents.

First things first.What is your appetite for using the REST based Search of livelink.In livelink when you type a search term oscript is calling the search API.can you live with that?

If I were you I would put the link of a URL in your java web page and see when a user clicks it results in the livelink page then half the battle is won you have SSO auth in your env.

then look in the place where you download livelink software there is a manual for the Search API.Lots of examples.

If you can't or do not know how to get past the authentication routine of livelink perhaps CWS has a search service which is very basic and requires you to follow the syntax very carefully.
OT has advised the programming community that you are better off doing the ?func=search as aainst the CWS routines.Regardless of what you end up doing livelink will always want a authenticated user ssession and
with IWA places this is very easily achieved.Even with the new OTDS paradigm single sign on is not a very difficult thing to do.

PS:I am a strong proponent of using livelink search and at one time I had to create a web application to search compound documents and provide links in a webpage.So after I did my project I bundled my approach here https://communities.opentext.com/communities/cs.dll/wiki/7967685/Developer-XML%20Search%20API (this again was done in around 2006/2007 time but I am pretty sure the search api would work for you in very less lines of code)
@OT search Gurus /Developers would it be possible to advise upcoming integrators with easy to use search application pages something simple like

Create a web page in jsp or .net
Create a search template in livelink
Ways to integrate the two pages
If you could host this kind of approach in the KB and developers seeing the two independent systems work will actually increase adoption of livelink search....
