Initiating workflow using OScript

Hi ,

I wish to initiate a workflow using OScript.

My actual requirement consists of initiating a workflow as soon as a document is added to a particular folder in Enterprise.

I searched and found that the best way to do this would be using OScrpit and Request Handlers. Can anyone please throw some light on how this is actually done. Any help on the coding that has to be done for the same.

Angad – FWIW, this can also be achieved with the help of Web Reports. Basically, you can attach a WR trigger to a folder, and ask it to execute a Web Report upon document insertion. Inside this Web Report, you can then initiate a workflow. The incoming document will be forwarded as an attachment to the workflow. This way, you can concentrate on developing the actual business logic inside the workflow.

Totally agree with Vishnu,

You also benefit from some special tags in WebReports (to help determine which Node ID triggered the WebReport). You can use this information to set workflow attributes (or add workflow attachments). In our case we set an Item Reference Attribute (inside the workflow) to the ID of the item that is triggering the workflow. Of course the WebReport’s destination is set to a workflow.

This tag sets a workflow attribute to the ID of the item that fired the WR Trigger

[LL_REPTAG_TRIGGERID SETWFATTR:Invoice /]

By adding more tags, we get the name of the containing folder of the item that triggered the event.

[LL_REPTAG_TRIGGERID NODEINFO:PARENTID NODEINFO:NAME SETWFATTR:Company /]
