Document Totals by Year

Gavin_Smith

Hi,

Is it possible to get a live report to output the age profile of documents by year?

i.e. listing the total number of docs created between the 1st Jan 2013 to 31st Dec 2013

Easy. Do you want a count of the Documents and not the versions? You'd access the DTREE and maybe the DVERSDATA tables. There are Date fields in each.

Oracle:

select to_char(dt.createdate, 'yyyy') "Year", count(*)

from dtree dt

where dt.subtype = 144 and to_char(dt.createdate, 'yyyy') = '2013'

group by to_char(dt.createdate, 'yyyy')

That's the quickest, but doesn't include versions.

The numbers will vary using the dtree.createdate v. dversdata.vercdate by quite a bit. I remember OT telling why, but can't recall what it is. I think they recommend the DVERSDATA.VERCDATE. The "subtype = 144" covers documents only.

To give you an idea, in ours, the numbers for one year were:

DTREE-only: 68k

DVERSDATA (current version-only): 95k

AllVersions: 400k

Hi Colin,

I think the first method is just what I'm looking for just the document count rather than document and version count.

Many thanks

Gavin
