Error using getNews() method in CS 9.7 but not in 10

Hello,

I'm developping a connector to Content Server, compatible with versions 9.7 and 10.

I've got an error on 9.7 CS, and not on the 10, while calling the getNews() method (Collaboration service) :

Core.ServiceException string: Error loading NewsInfo.Attachments

I looked at the wsdl but they are similar in the 2 versions..

It happens on every news in the CS 9.7.

Any idea ?

Are you using the 9.7.1 Enterprise Web Services to talk to the 9.7.1 Content Server?

Or are you trying to use the 10.0.0 Content Web Services to talk to the 9.7.1 Content Server?

I'm using the 9.7 web service to talk to the 9.7 server, and the version 10 of web service to talk to the 10 server.

In fact, I'm not sure because I'm not the one who installed the CS server and the web service. How can I check that, and what would be the pb using 9.7 web service on a 10 server ?

I should wait before answering

I've checked the manifest of the web services, it's ok, 9.7 on 9.7 and 10 on 10.

Nevertheless, I use xjc to generate the java class from the xsd file of the web services. And for that, I use the xsd files of the 10 web service.

Could it be the pb ?

Hello,

I tested it on an other CS server, version 10 : I have the same error on fews News (6 over 36 news), all in the same channel.

I tried to understand why this channel or news is different but I don't see it

There is no known bug on this method ?

Is it worth using the GUI and looking at the Permissions function of the News or Channel.Typically Livelink will calculate the best amount of permissions for the caller so it might be just that this NEWS was created in a Channel with no PA access(does not mean PA needs to be open just properly permissioned) and not really any permissions to the webservices api caller's userid. Properly setting up permissions on objects is a pre-requisite whether it is wsapi,lapi or an actual user and is beyond the scope of this forum. I was just trying to guide you to look at the obvious first using the GUI because GUI and code still has to tackle the same business rules.

Thanks for your answer.

I checked permissions on the Channel : PA is set to None ( I changed it to Read, same thing).

In the GUI, it don't seem possible to modify permissions on News or Attachments..? And I created them with the user I use in the web service call.

I don't have the error on a News without attachment.

So, if it is a permission problem but you can't set them in the GUI, I don't understand..

And the news without attachment which don't cause the error is in the same Channel..

Is this your livelink if so can you give your wsapi user "SA' privs in the user's profile and re-attempt.If it still errors out perhaps your theory of having an attachment inside breaks it so raise it up with OT support,if not proper permissioning will get you what you want. Livelink 101 fundamentals has a chapter of how adminstering items differ in workitems vs library items.They are well worth reading.
