Hi!

I would like to create Form with custom view (HTML and Javascript) that would perform as Search in Content Server.

It is very important for me to use search over document categories!

Is it possible to create such Form used as Search?

Hi Tomas,

I don’t know on which CS you are, but there is already standard CS functionality that does that. What you need to do is the following:

<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>Define your search on the advanced search page

<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>Save the search in the folder where you want it to appear as search form

<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>From the functionmenu of the saved search select “Make Customer View Search”

<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>Configure the search form to your wishes

Hi Hans!

That sounds like it is exactly what I'm looking for but I'm still not able to do that.

I've defined query on categories in Advances Search Pages, but when I click on "Save as Search Form" I can't choose any place where to save it... I can only choose name for it and it will appear in dropdown menu labeled as "Use this Search Form" in advanced search. Therefore there isn't any function menu...

I wonder if I'm on right advanced search pages, please see attachment. Can you help me out?

I'm using Content Server 10.5.

You need to select the button Save Search Query.

Thank you Hans!

With search query and its Custom Search, I'm able to slightly modify view, but that is not enough in my case. I need to edit HTML and add Javascript behind it in order to customize behaviour of the Search Form.

Anyway thanks for response. If you have any other idea I'll be glad to hear it.

HI Tomas,

In that case please have a look at the Search XML API. With this you can make a standard HTML form to activate a search request.

Just search for “Search XML API” and you will find the information.

I did what you have suggested and find solution.

Just for others wondering:

I've created standard Form with fake Template
Created html with content below
Upload html into template view
Set my view to my Form.

<html><head><script>...</script></head><div>My Customm Search Form</div><textarea id="editor" rows="3" cols="80">Add search items here</textarea><form action="livelink.exe" method="POST" name="stylesheetFrm"><input type="HIDDEN" name="func" value="Search"><input type="HIDDEN" name="lookfor1" value="complexquery"><input type="HIDDEN" id="where" name="where1" value="12345"><input type="SUBMIT" value="go"></form></html>

in script part there is important to add javascript logic that will fill input with id "where" with similiar value: "Attr_96930_2":"12345"or"Attr_96930_2":"abcd"

that will perform search on documents with category (with id 96930 ) on first and only attribute that have values 12345 or abcd

With javascript I'm able to add logic that wil parse user input into more than 1 "or" search statements.
