Unable to Impersonate user

Hi,

I have an issue impersonating a user.

Have tried to use the MemberServices but it seems it am keep getting my own credential. My aim is to get the User ID that is currently login to Content Server and impersoate him for the necessary permissions assigned to him.

So far the sample codes are done with the user name hardcoded.

Are there any other sample codes that I can refer to?

We are doing this with Windows authentication, what are using for authentification. For us, we run our web apps using an application pool in IIS that use a Windows account with proper privileges in content server to create folder on behalf of user that are not allow to create them for exemple.

Impersonation works only under these circumstances the userid of the app needs to be made with System Administration privileges in livelink

As far as examples go search Brad Ceballo in this forum or even impersonation you will get samples

I understand the part that I have to login as SA first to authenticate, but the issue is how to obtain the username in order to pass it to the impersonateUser method. Its pretty puzzling.

Well in that case Guy told you that in a windows system it is very easy for a webapp to find who is accessing it provided the website is not "anonymous". Google using terms such as "REMOTE_USER" ..If it is a windows desktop application then also there are environment variables that you can access. I would probably look clearly on how your application design is and look at opportunities.It is hard for forum members to completely understand the constraints of your coding so we give tips thinking they might help that is all

Basically I am doing a Word Plugin to perform some calculation based on the values taken from Content Server. Upon authentication, we need to impersonate the user to access the DocumentManagement Method to retrieve the relevant information and include them in the Word document.

There is no requirement for the user to use Windows authentication. They will be using normal CS login and password. This makes impersonation in the Web Service challenging especially in retrieving the user name of the one who open the document from CS.

I am using CS 10.5 by the way.
