OS Built-in documentation

Hi,

I'm wondering if there exists anywhere documentation about the various OS built-ins for Content Server. I've looked in the builder documentation but never found it. This is for things like OS.New(), OS.Parent(), etc. I'd love to deepen my understanding of these functions and what their original purpose is.

The only doc I found was packages\os.html from some older Content Server documentation. It contains 'Dummy' method descriptions.

No, there is deliberately no documentation for the OS built-ins.

Hi, I also could not find any documentation on built-in functions.

I am not even able to consume them with below mentioned code-

I wrote the above code in Webreport to get path of a folder corresponding to a field filled by user at runtime.

This throws error-

Error with [LL_WEBREPORT_STARTSCRIPT /]. The following text is not permitted within an Oscript block in a reportview: os.

Suggest how can I do away with the same error.

Oscript in WebReports is purposely (and wisely) limited. Section 9.2.2 of the Advanced Web Reports guide lists all of the restrictions. I think the one getting you is "All Builder Packages are restricted except those listed below" (and it goes on to list them).

"Suggest how can I do away with the same error" - use builder or CSide to write your oScript and leave Web Reports for reporting.

We are not looking forward on using Builder or Cside as Business will not be very happy with such heavy customization.

Can you suggest me some other approach using the workflows, webreport or anything else that could save the day?

Achieve what (I thought we were talking about writing oScript in Web Reports)? What problem are you trying to solve?

I want to traverse to Level 5 in the below specified hierarchy of the Folder structure depending upon an attribute value.

Level 1-->

Level 2-->

Level 3-->

Level 4-->

Level 5-->

Level 6

We would need to create level 6 folder through workflow. To achieve this we need the object id (item reference ) of level 5 folder. Is there a way to get the item reference dynamically to create level 6 folder through workflow. We have have a UserInput of Level 3 folder name in the form of attribute value.

Can this be done with help of workflow or webreport?

You say you know the name of the level 3 folder, is this unique enough that you can get the id of this folder using a SQL query? Is there just 1 folder at level 4 and level 5 or are there many? If more than 1 how do you know which level 4 and/or level 5 folder is correct? If just 1 level 4 and 1 level 5 then you could use a connect by query (assuming you are using Oracle) to get to the level 5 folder (if using SQL Server then you could easily traverse down the path using the parentid/dataid of the folders in question).

Once you have the dataid of the level 5 folder you might look at using the SETWFATTR Web Report tag to set your attribute. Please note that this assumes the item reference attribute needs a simple dataid...I am not sure that is what it needs, perhaps it needs more than just the dataid?!? Also you might take this question to the WebReports forum...those guys are really good!!!
