We have application which create folde in Livelink automatically.

But we are getting the error at this line of code.

Declare Function LL_Initialize Lib "lapi_base.dll" (ByVal headerVersion As Long) As Long

Is Lapi_base.dll supported by LL 10 What is its use??

971 is the last livelink server that officially supports lapi client libraries.Does not mean anything because you can take the 971 lapi client libraries and still talk to 10 and not tested probably 10.5 by basically tweaking clr and some other params.That means when I write something now in lapi I can include those libraries .Going by the same token it might be possible if you found all those old VB6 source code and the lapi libraries (including that lapi_base.dll stuff). People like Kyle Swidrowich or somebody who knows intimately about lapi development(Christopher Meyer?) may be able to guide you and tell if it is possible really or you are wasting your time.

Unfortunately I don't nowadays try to work with VB6 perhaps if it is important someone else who knows might comment.I would advise you to move to newer lapi or CWS.

My gut feel is that so long as OT supports SharePoint talking to livelink and back they are probably invested a whole lot on lapi methods so the server side maybe there.

Hello Saurav,

As per the 9.7.1 SDK release notes:

Deprecated Platform Support

Support has been deprecated for the Windows 2000, Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 operating systems.

Please refer to the “LAPI Supported Configurations” section of this document for currently supported platforms.

LAPI does not support VB6 anymore since VB6 does not support 64 bit Integers. Pre 9.7.1 VB6 clients can still talk to 9.7.1 Livelink Server.

Having said that, as per the 10.0.0 SDK release notes, only 9.7.1 LAPI clients are supported for connections with CS 10:

LAPI Application	Content Server
9.7.1	10.0.0
9.7.1	9.7.1
9.7.1	9.5.0 SP1
9.6.0	9.7.0

So in short, VB6 LAPI applications are not supported for use with Content Server 10.

You have suggested that LAPI is not supported for the CS 10

But still we are able to run livelink loader(which is written in VB6 LAPI) in our application which is in CS 10 update13 without any issue.

on the other hand there is other application which also written in VB6 LAPI but it is not working for us.

Looking forward for your suggestion.

It depends on what your VB application is doing.

Your VB app that isn’t working may be failing due to 64-bit integer handling.

That issue would need to be investigated more deeply.

FYI, Content Server 10 indicated that there would be no further release of LAPI after 9.7.1.

Although LAPI applications do work against CS 10, there is no guarantee that this will continue in the future.

The CS 10.5 release notes go further to explain that the CS 10.x versions are the last versions that will support LAPI application interaction.
