developing/creating a nested CompoundDoc or Folder

Hi,

i need to careate nested Node of type CompoundDoc and Upload the document inside.

i am unable to figure it out, any help in the form of code snipet will be appriciable.

In what kind ? Oscript or Soap?

Cd's are just like folders so you have to specify the llnode as 136 in oscript or

compounddocument in soap or lapi.

after the cd is created you can use its parentid and volumeid to add a document(144) into it.

Just imagine that CD's are like folders with a lot of good additional functionality like Revisioning, Releases etc.

If you have Object Importer it will also support that.

I wonder how one could debug livelink if Fiddler, Wireshark and Softerra LDAP browser was not invented and not free

Thanks for your attention, i am using CWS SOAP API, some how i manage to create a CD, but no idea how to create folder/upload document inside newly created CD, any code snipet will be appriciable.

the first pinned posting on this forum is an excellent upload sample by Kyle Swidrowich unfortunately it says something else.I use his sample for many of the uploads I do.In that code there is a parentid that is what you need to put yours CD's dataid.

Rather than "somehow" create the CD use the livelink GUI,create a CD by GUI and see what you do,that is the same expected of you to do with a programming language.Further you will understand the various business rules livelink enforces ,mostly around metadata,which will be expected of you while you program.When you create the node in your case the CD it has nodeid ,in cws it may be ID which becomes the parentid of further children.Also it is good if you visit the CWS forum and try all the beautiful official samples there.If there is no light at the end of the tunnel let us know we will try to help out.
