i am new to LAPI, Can any body tell what are the stpes to isntall LAPI and what components should i install for LAPI.

If your intent is to use a .NET or Java language to do some things against livelink perhaps you should consider using CWS or the REST API

OT stopped producing a client installer for LAPI a long time ago.I used to program in lapi many many years ago,still do so if you are interested in the vestiges of it have a look at my blog entry to see a different perspective than the official ones.You will probably not get any support from OT or the forum members since we have all moved to newer things.

Having said that if you contact OT they might give you an installer or it may probably work if you find the old dll files or jar files for the client operation,but you will not like it so giving you fair warning.

There is no one “best” way. It depends on your scenario.
